Guild Projects

This page documents Guild projects and classes, where members of the Guild get together to learn how to do something fun.

Gold-Wrapped Thread

This class took place at Landsknecht (2005) in the Shire of Eisental. Gold-wrapped thread is made by hammering gold wire flat and wrapping it around silk thread. These are pictures of the final product: I wish we had thought of photographing the process.

Signet Coins

The Tyger Clerk of the Signet asked our guild to provide Promissary Coins for them to give out in court, in the case that a scroll is not ready on time. When the scroll is complete, the recipient will turn in the coin in exchange for their scroll. In case you can't read it in the photo, on the gold ring on the "Signet" side of the coin, we are painting the words "To Be Redeemed for a Handmade Scroll from the Scribes".

Signet Pendant

The Tyger Clerk of the Signet has asked us to create these small medallions, for her to give to be given to the East Kingdom Scribes to wear as a badge of pride. ("Scribes" are the people who create the scrolls that are given out in court, either the calligraphy [lettering] or the illumination [painting].) The plan is for our Guild to leave the medallions pewter-colored, but that each Scribe would be able to paint their own medallion in their own style, if they chose to do so.

Kingdom Crusades Coins

These coins were made to be given out as tokens at the Arts & Sciences competition at Kingdom Crusades in the fall of 2005. On one side is a sunburst containing the numeral "3" in Farsi; on the other is a crown inside a Tudor rose: these are the personal devices of the Queens of the East and Atlantia, respectively.
